PREFACE

This volume of the Catalogue is a World Wide Web electronic picture gallery.

The pictures supplement those in Volume 1 of this Catalogue, which contains a concise History of the Collection, an account of the Methods of Cataloguing and printed illustrations. Descriptions of the instruments are provided in Volume 2 of this Catalogue, which is being published in a series of fascicles and is avilable in printed form, on diskette, or despatched by e-mail. Publication details of the other volumes of the Catalogue are given on other WWW pages.

This volume will be augmented from time to time.

The editor has endeavoured to provide the pictures most likely to be of use. Should any readers require further data, or have any query about the published data, they should write to the Curator of the Collection who will be glad to help.
