Hotels: Three nearby hotels are:

  1. The Mercure Lawson (Aus $116/room/night + 10% tax)
    383-389 Bulwarra Rd

    Telephone: +61 2 9211 1499
    Fax: +61 2 9281 3764
(approx. 2 minutes walk from the Powerhouse Museum)

  2. Unilodge (Aus $110/ double or twin room/night -no bed tax)

    Fax: +61 2 9338 5111
(approx. 10 minutes walk from the Powerhouse Museum)

As the rates for these hotels are for bookings made by Powerhouse Museum staff, CIMCIM delegates need to confirm their room requirements with:
    Michael Lea
    Powerhouse Museum
    PO Box K346
    Haymarket, NSW 1238
    Australia
by the 31st of July and we will compile a list of names with contact details and give it to the hotels.

It will then be the responsibility of each member to pay any deposit or provide a credit card number to hold the room. If you cancel within 30 days of their stay, you will be liable to pay the hotel's cancellation fee (one night's accomodation charge for the Mercure Lawson, unspecified for Unilodge - probably similar). Members will need to notify the hotel individually of their card details after we have supplied the hotel with the list. The hotel may also contact the individual members.

  3. Youth Hostels Association (Aus $62/twin; double; single room/night - rates are cheaper for shared rooms or dormitories)
Central YHA Pitt St. (corner of Rawson Pl)
    Sydney
    Australia
    Telephone +61 2 9281 9111
(approx. 10 minutes walk from the Powerhouse Museum)
CIMCIM delegates should ring to book directly. The YHA requires bookings as far in advance as possible, with a credit card number or the first night's payment in advance to hold the room. They require 24 hours notice for cancellation or 10% of the room price if cancelled after this. Non YHA members are charged Aus $3 extra per night.
After the Sydney visit, participants fly to Melbourne on Saturday and register during the day. This leaves participants free to take a post-conference trip to New Zealand or another Australian city, if they so choose.
