Guidelines and Criteria for Travel Grants for CIMCIM Annual Meetings
General Remarks
- The organisers of the annual conference should seek for funding in the hosting country
- The travel grant budget offered by the hosting country (or other organisations) may be augmented by CIMCIM
- If no funds are raised by the hosting country, the Board should decide, if financial support could be granted to individuals.
- Travel grants raised by the organising country or given by CIMCIM shall be reserved for applicants from developing countries or from countries with non-convertible currency. If enough money is raised, a student- or young-researcher grant (applicants under the age of 35 years) may apply. A preference should be given to applicants coming from countries on the same continent where the conference is held or to people who never have attended CIMCIM conferences. The support of CIMCIM can be financed by:
- Allocating portions of the conference registration fees or by using membership paid by individual
- Using max. 50% of the annual income of CIMCIM
- The number of grant recipients and the funding level (depending on the country, where the application originates), should be decided by the CIMCIM Board. (suggested:20-80% of the total costs)
- Applicants having received CIMCIM grants will normally not be considered for a new grant for 3 years
- The call for applications with the regulations (approved 2003 by the Board and the business meeting) must be published in the CIMCIM Bulletin
Application for a CIMCIM travel grant
- the applicant must work with musical instruments in a public collection
- the applicant has to provide part of the travel or other costs.
- the applicant must present a paper
- the intended paper must be approved by the program committee
- the application must be sent to the CIMCIM secretary at least 6 months prior to the conference in written form
Only those applications accompanied by the following items will be considered
- a statement of the applicant's reason for attending the annual CIMCIM Conference and the benefits which he/she expects to derive from it
- a short curriculum vitae
- the amount requested for the grant (eg. accomodation, travelling costs etc.)
- the amount of alternate funding available to facilitate his/her attendance at the conference
- abstract of the paper (relevant to the topic of the conference theme)
Certain conditions are connected with the payment of a grant:
The grantee shall share her or his professional impressions with others.
This is done by writing an article on a theme related to the conference
attended. The article should be approx. 1-2 pages and may contain a
description of an exhibiton visited, a resumi of a paper or similar. We
do not wish a mere listing of people and places. The article shall be
sent latest two month after ending of the conference to the secretary.
All incoming articles will be revised by the CIMCIM Board and, if
accepted published on the CIMCIM Website. The financial support is sent
out after the article has been approved by the Board.
